If you were hoping to swoop in at the last minute for tickets to this week’s sold-out Mumford & Sons shows at the Patriot Center, last night’s Grammy Awards did you no favors.
Individual tickets for the band’s Wednesday and Thursday gigs start at more than $100 on StubHub this morning, though your mileage may vary elsewhere on the secondary market. The U.K. twangers took the night’s biggest prize for Album of the Year — that would be “Babel” — beating out the likes of Jack White, Frank Ocean, the Black Keys and fun. And while it’s not as though the band needed any help selling out the Fairfax venue, nothing makes a midweek suburban show feel more important than a big win on a national stage just a few nights earlier.
Speaking of fun., if you missed the Best New Artist and Song of the Year band’s show at DAR Constitution Hall last month, they’ll perform at Merriweather Post Pavilion on July 20. And on April 14, Best R&B Song winner Miguel will open for Alicia Keys at the Verizon Center.
