‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ climbs to the top spot at box office

Tim-ber! That's the sound of the CGI-tastic "Jack the Giant Slayer" falling short of expectations. Last weekend's box office topper snagged $28 million in ticket sales, which doesn't put much of a dent in an estimated budget approaching $200 million. There's a lesson here somewhere about making a kid's movie based on a fairy tale -- Jack and the Beanstalk -- with enough flesh-hungry monsters and mortal beanstalk climbs to warrant a PG-13 rating.
