March Madness descends on the Verizon Center

March 28, 2013

There are no local teams involved in the Sweet 16 games tonight at the Verizon Center, but the neighborhood won't be short on spirit.

Syracuse fans can hit a pregame happy hour at Sign of the Whale -- the city's main 'Cuse bar -- from 4 to 6 p.m. before heading to Clyde's of Gallery Place. The Syracuse cheerleaders perform there at 6:45 p.m., and Otto the Orange will be in attendance.

Indiana alumni should make for Penn Social, where the Hoosiers cheerleaders and marching band perform. Everything gets underway at 6:45 p.m.

The University of Miami is taking over Penn Quarter Sports Tavern for the night, hosting pre- and post-game celebrations with $12 Miller Lite Pitchers, $6 23-ounce glasses of Sam Adams and Fat Tire, and $6 Hurricanes. (If you don't have tickets, they'll be showing the game there, too.)

Marquette is hosting a game-viewing party at Hamilton's.
