Tame Impala and the Flaming Lips team up at Merriweather this October

Queue the trippy light show.  Alt-rock vets the Flaming Lips and baby-faced psych-rockers Tame Impala  are teaming up for a show Oct. 4 at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Tickets went on sale today and are $35-$45.

Wayne Coyne and Co. -- and hopefully, that  giant plastic bubble -- will play the outdoor venue in Columbia in support of their new record, "The Terror." Tame Impala -- the  Aussie band you can credit with shaking up indie rock's reign of chill-wavers and synth-poppers with a bit with of sunny, guitar-driven psychedelia -- scored a major hit with last year's sun-bleached "Lonerism." Tame Impala sold out its previous D.C. date, at the 9:30 Club, so if you haven't seen them, now's the time.
