The weekend’s best in nightlife, music and art. For even more, check out Nightlife Agenda.

Friday: The Mixtape Dance Party is aptly named: When Shea Van Horn and Matt Bailer are on the decks, you’re never sure what you’re going to hear – Robyn or Whitney Houston remixes, Kylie Minogue or Pet Shop Boys hits, the odd throwback track from Missy Elliott or Guns N’ Roses. What you can be sure of, though, is that the songs will flow like an expertly curated mixtape made by your most clued-in DJ friend. The monthly night has been a bit nomadic in recent years, hopscotching between the Black Cat, Town and the Howard Theatre, but it’s celebrating its fifth anniversary at the Howard this week. Bring your dancing shoes.

Saturday: Expect 70-80 vendors selling everything from vintage eyeglass frames to antique furniture and vintage clothing at the inaugural District Flea, created by the producers of New York's famous Brooklyn Flea on a 37,000 square foot lot in Shaw. Organizers have committed to just a six-week run this fall  but they say a return next spring could be in the books if all goes well. In the meantime, look out for food trucks and a beer garden manned by ChurchKey's Greg Engert, kicking off the second week of the market. Find the entrances on Florida Avenue NW and Ninth Street NW, not far from the 9:30 Club.

Saturday: Grab your helmet and hit the road for the Mashtown Bicycle Tour. Organized by the owners of the forthcoming Bardo Brewery, the tour leaves the Brookland-Catholic University Metro station at 1 p.m. and will visit Chocolate City Brewing, the brand-new Atlas Brew Works and the New Columbia Distillery, home of Green Hat Gin, for tours and tastings. Finally, the peloton will head for Bardo’s beer garden on Bladensburg Road for beer and corn hole. The approximately 6-mile ride on the Metropolitan Branch Trail and other bike trails, will wind up at Bardo by 4 p.m. The ride is free, and tastings the breweries are free, too – but be sure to bring your ID.

Saturday: This summer's near-ritual boot-scootin’, like all good things, must come to an end: Hill Country’s Backyard Barbecue at the National Building Museum will end its inaugural season with one last bash, a kind of rocking night of T-Rex-esque jams from Crushed Out. The final barbecue of the season starts at noon; music begins at 5:30 p.m.; admission, blissfully, is free.

Saturday: Last week's Adams Morgan Day celebrated over a long stretch of 18th Street and drew thousands, but the 17th Street Festival operates on a smaller scale, like a block party/pat on the back for all the residents, shops, restaurants, schools and more that call the one-way street in Dupont Circle home. The fest, which stretches between P Street and Riggs Place, will feature musical performances, art vendors and special areas for children and pets.

Saturday: How many people does it take to win a tug of war against a 164,000-pound Airbus? Find out at the Dulles Day Plane Pull, where teams of 25 try to move an airplane 12 feet along the runway. Other events from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. include a truck pull for kids, a pizza eating contest, carnival games and a display of historic aircraft, including the landing and takeoff of a Harrier jet at 12:30 p.m., all at Dulles International Airport.

Sunday-Sept. 27:  Soprano Iréne Theorin takes on the challenging role of Isolde (stepping in for the legendary Deborah Voigt) in the Washington National Opera's season-opening production of "Tristan and Isolde."  Voigt's departure shines a light on the complexities of the roles in Wagner's tale of doomed love; all the more reason to see the influential opera at the Kennedy Center, where it will run an epic 275 minutes, and be sung entirely in  German (with English supertitles).

Sunday: Thanks to Daft Punk, Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake, disco had a bit of a moment this summer on dance floors everywhere. It was the rugrats, however, who were the earliest adopters. Remember Baby Loves Disco? The national parties that first made their mark several years ago on H Street NE had a fairly brilliant model, taking over clubs in the daytime hours and turning them into highly sold-out, hip playgrounds for the diaper set to twerk, or do whatever dance moves kids do these days.  After a three-year hiatus, Baby Loves Disco is back, bringing out the tots for a day of dancing at U Street Music Hall on Sunday.
