We're still busily updating our list of shutdown happy hours, but we wanted to alert you of a new one in particular: Dacha Beer Garden will offer one glass of Fruh kolsch to anyone with a government ID tonight between 4 and 7 p.m. The forecast looks perfect for drinking outside and it's a chance to check out the new 50-foot mural of Elizabeth Taylor, whose violet eyes gaze down at folks drinking German beer from glass boots.

Created by muralist Byron Peck, the artist known for U Street's Duke Ellington mural, the image of Taylor is created in memory of the support her foundation provided to Shaw's Whitman-Walker Clinic. The mural will officially be dedicated at 6 p.m. Thursday, when Peck will sign the mural and, a press release says, "Councilmember Jim Graham, who knew Taylor when he was executive director of the Whitman-Walker Clinic, will offer recollections of the legendary actress."

Fritz Hahn has covered bars, drinks and nightlife for the Washington Post Weekend Section since 2003, but he also writes about everything from Civil War battlefields to sailing classes. You can find him on Twitter and Instagram.
