At National Harbor, 15 percent of the year is Christmas

National Harbor's Gaylord National Resort announced the plan today for its annual "Christmas on the Potomac" blowout, which includes Ice!, everyone's favorite sojourn into horrible/wonderful tundra-like temperatures, not to mention a nightly prog-rock holiday light show, indoor snow flurries and more.

Two million pounds of ice will be carved, shaved and smoothed into the rhyme scheme from "Twas the Night Before Christmas." But what really caught our attention was that festivities at the Prince George's County play-land would run for precisely 52 tinsel-filled days, Nov. 15 through Jan. 5. In other words, at National Harbor, it's Christmas about 15 percent of the year. The cheer begins in less than a month.
