In his First Bite column in today's Food section, Tom Sietsema says the large new RedRocks pizzeria on H Street NE "is best for pints and pies." Luckily, that's exactly what the restaurant's weeknight specials focus on.

A friend and I stopped in Tuesday night to find all pizzas ($10-$16) for half-price from 5 p.m. to close, so we ordered two beers and split a pie topped with boar sausage and smoked buffalo mozzarella. The total was $21 plus tax and tip -- not bad for dinner for two.

Wednesday's deal extends happy hour all night long: All drafts are $1 off, mixed drinks are $5 -- think "gin and tonic" instead of a cocktails from the bar's list -- and there's a choice of four Italian wines by the glass for $5, including prosecco.

On Thursdays, all drinks are "buy one, get one half off." Mondays bring half-price bottles of wine, which are regularly $30 to $44.

The best part is that the nightly specials are available anywhere in the restaurant, not just at the bar, so you can take in the views from the rooftop dining area or grab a seat on the mezzanine without missing out.
