Let someone else drive you around to local breweries on Saturday

November 7, 2013

For years, wine lovers have organized party buses that ferry them to different wineries, allowing them to sample the chardonnays and meritages, purchase a few bottles and then be chauffeured on to the next stop.

Beer fans of Northern Virginia: Here's your turn to enjoy a leisurely day of sampling local breweries.

On Saturday, Reston Limousine is organizing the D.C. Brew Bus Tour. Passengers will board a party bus at Dulles Town Center and the Rosslyn Metro station en route to the Mad Fox Brewing Company, Atlas Brew Works and 3 Stars Brewing Company. Beer samples and tasting flights will be provided at each stop -- Mad Fox will also arrange a buffet lunch -- and growlers will be available for purchase. (Don't miss Atlas's newest beer, a dark saison called Saison Des Fetes.) If you want to drink some fresh beer while leaving the driving to someone else, this is the easiest way to go.

The cost is $55, which includes food and beer flights. The chartered minibus leaves Dulles Town Center at 10:45 and Rosslyn at 11:35 a.m. It returns to Rosslyn at 5:45 and Dulles at 6:30 p.m. More information and a detailed itinerary are available on the Reston Limousine site.

Correction: Due to an editing error, an earlier headline on this post indicated the breweries on the tour are all located in Virginia.
