DC Art Yards transforms former government office building

The former National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency building is getting a makeover of sorts before it's demolished in 2014.

Through the middle of December, seven local and international artists — including D.C. native Kelly Towles and Baltimore native Michael William Kirby — are using the facade and parking lot of the Southeast building as their canvas. If you're willing to brave the cold you can go to the Yards (Metro: Navy Yard) to watch them work, or bring the kids to participate in a chalk art project Dec. 7-8. A final unveiling is set for Dec. 12-14.

Find out more about the artists and project here.
