One Direction will perform at Nationals Park in 2014

One Direction will perform at Nationals Park on Aug. 11, an event which promises to bring the most shrieking to the ballpark since Game 5 of the 2012 NLDS.

As a music venue, Nationals Park has almost exclusively hosted established legends with broad appeal, particularly for baby boomers: Billy Joel, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney have all drawn huge crowds to the ballpark since it opened in 2008. But the demographics promise to be much younger when the London-based tween magnets bring their 21-city "Where We Are 2014" tour to Southeast.

Parents, pay attention: Tickets go on sale Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. through Tickets.com, but a presale is on now for Citi card holders. Tickets are priced at $64.50, $84.50 and $104.50. You now have one fewer item to find on your holiday shopping list.

One Direction's "Midnight Memories" was released Monday. As the band's third album, it's probably the last one before everything starts to take a turn fall apart.
