District Karaoke teams take the stage for citywide finals

December 9, 2013

The occasional night of karaoke with friends can be a welcome shake-up for your average happy hour — a night at Recessions, perhaps?

For the truly talented and musically inclined, though, there's District Karaoke, the second karaoke league of its kind in the United States. Teams decked out in costumes and armed with props perform for 10 weeks, hoping to take part in the citywide finals.

Eight teams from this year's fall league are competing at Penn Social tonight. Audience members and guest judges will vote through three rounds of singing -- a solo round, a duet or trio round and a group round. The sing-off starts at 7 p.m. and onlookers receive $4 Peroni drafts and $16 pitchers.
