1.“Season’s Greenings

(Kyle T. Webster for the Washington Post) (Kyle T. Webster for the Washington Post)

at the U.S. Botanic Gardens, 100 Maryland Ave. SW.

No one is too old for a model-train holiday display, especially when it weaves its way through famous landmarks of the World’s Fair, such as the Eiffel Tower and Space Needle.

2.The Feast of the Seven Fishes
at G, 2201 14th St. NW.
Make an early reservation for chef Mike Isabella’s interpretation of the famous Italian Christmas feast, Dec. 19-22. It’s $65 with an optional $35 wine pairing.

3. Seasonal Disorder
at Source, 1835 14th St. NW.

Every night is different with the Washington Improv Theater, but each show pokes gentle fun at holiday traditions and the families who celebrate them.

4.POV Roof Terrace at the W Hotel
515 15th St. NW.

Make a reservation to catch the romantic views of the White House and the Washington Monument from the rooftop of the W Hotel. It’s a heated patio and you’ll have a hot drink in your hand. Perhaps it will be the hot peanut butter rum made with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum infused with peanut butter, brown sugar and spices. After you get cozy, take a nighttime stroll to the nearby National Christmas Tree.
