The Washington area's movie theater boom continues with another announcement from Landmark, the chain specializing in art-house and indie films. A six-screen movie theater will open in JBG's mixed-use development at the former Atlantic Plumbing building near the 9:30 Club, at 8th and V Streets NW, in 2015.
As you can see from the rendering, this won't be a typical multiplex. Like other Landmark locations, the new addition will have a bar and upscale food options.
For those keeping track, that will be the area's fourth Landmark movie theater, including the one slated to open in NoMa in 2016. It's also the fourth movie theater announcement in quick succession (considering how few movie theaters have opened in recent years). An Angelika theater -- another champion of alternative titles -- is scheduled to open in Union Market, and a 16-screen theater will open near Nationals Park.
