Craft beer alert: SAVOR returns to D.C. in May

January 17

After 2013's detour to New York, Savor, the annual craft beer and small-plate food extravaganza, will return to D.C. May 9-10 at the National Building Museum

Admission is $135 (down from $170 last year; renting space in the Big Apple doesn’t come cheap), and an extra $20 buys you admission to a private tasting salon. Tickets go on sale to the general public March 26 through Ticketmaster. The list of participating breweries and the salon schedule have not yet been finalized; keep checking Savor's Web site for updates.

The National Building Museum will also host the area’s other super-exclusive beer event, the annual Brewer’s Ball, on March 8. A fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Brewer’s Ball features about two-dozen participating breweries, food from area restaurants, live music and a charity auction. Brewers are known to trade their jeans and rubber boots for formal attire. Tickets are $130 through dcbrewersball.org.
