We’ve made it to the first full day of spring. Our reward: One day of gorgeous weather before the return of ice and (maybe) snow. That makes it even more imperative that you get out and enjoy this weather while you can. Here are six suggestions for doing just that on Saturday afternoon.

In Annapolis, spring is welcomed by a curious ritual: Sock burning, which sailors embrace as a reminder that boat-shoe season is just around the corner. The idea of a bonfire dates to the 1970s, but for the past few years, it has taken place at the Annapolis Maritime Museum’s Oyster Roast celebration. Besides burning socks, the day includes all-you-can-eat raw, roasted and steamed oysters; boat-appropriate music by Them Eastport Oyster Boys; an oyster shucking competition; admission to the museum; and, for an extra fee, rides on a 1902 skipjack boat. – Fritz Hahn
Noon to 4 p.m. Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 2nd St., Annapolis. www.amaritime.org. $25; skipjack rides $20.

We got a preview of spring weather last Saturday, which brought teams of people out to Bardo for a day of drinking beer and playing corn hole in the sun. The beer garden’s leaning metal picnic tables, stray brewing vessels and spray-painted shipping containers give off a slightly dystopian vibe, but it’s offset by a giant mirror-covered skull and new indoor bathrooms. Bring your friends, your kids and your dog and spend the day hanging out and drinking Rogue beers, as Bardo’s house brews are still a little ways off. – Fritz Hahn
Open at noon. Bardo, 1200 Bladensburg Rd. NE. www.bardodc.com. Most beers $6-$8.

After hiking in Rock Creek Park, take a break on the rocks near the Rapids Bridge. (Fritz Hahn/The Washington Post)

After being cooped up inside during this snowy winter, I’m desperate for an outdoorsy activity, and that probably means hiking. There are great spots within a short drive of the city, but lately I’ve been more interested in sticking close to home and exploring the amazing trails in Rock Creek Park. My suggestion: If you’re driving, park at Peirce Mill and pick up the Western Ridge Trail, which climbs north toward the nature center and beyond. With all the recent snow, things could be a little muddy, so plan accordingly. If you’re carless, no worries: The closest bus stop is around Connecticut and Rodman (H2, L1, L2), and from there you can pick up the Melvin Hazen Trail which dead-ends into the Western Ridge. – Stephanie Merry

Tennis fans, you can emerge from those indoor courts now, or pull the racket out of your closet for the first time this year. The D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation operates 136 tennis courts around the District: just use this handy map to find the one closest to you. The DC Tennis League also has a comprehensive listing and map of courts in the District, Maryland and Virginia. Some courts and tennis centers do have a reservation fee, including the East Potomac and Rock Creek Park tennis centers. For East Potomac Park, which has five outdoor hard courts, call ahead for reservations and to check availability. For Rock Creek Park, you can sign up online to reserve one of 15 hard courts. It’s free to register, and you can make a reservation up to seven days in advance. An hour on the court costs $12, and there are still courts available for Saturday afternoon. – Margaret Ely
Rock Creek Tennis Center, 16th and Kennedy streets NW. 202-722-5949. www.rockcreektennis.com. $12 per hour.

It's a little early for cherry blossoms, but paddle boats are available on the Tidal Basin this weekend. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

There may be no cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin yet, but paddle boat season has already begun. An hour on the two-seat boats costs $14, and offers scenic views and excellent opportunities for selfies. The downside? Everyone will assume you're a tourist. – Maura Judkis
Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations may only be made for 10 a.m., 11 a.m. or noon. 1501 Maine Ave. SW. 202-479-2426. www.tidalbasinpaddleboats.com. $14 per hour.

After months of waiting, the Dolcezza Gelato Factory and Coffee Lab has finally opened its doors in a former warehouse near Union Market. Nothing says warm weather like strolling around outside while eating freshly churned gelato and sorbet. Read about the Dolcezza factory and coffee lab here. – Fritz Hahn.
Open noon to 7 p.m. Dolcezza Gelato Factory and Coffee Lab, 550 Penn St. NE. 202-333-4646. www.dolcezzagelato.com.
