Concerts won't begin until 2015, but a new music venue is opening in North Bethesda.

Strathmore announced details on AMP, a "250-seat music venue; 2,800 square foot indoor space; green room and 1,100 square foot pre-function space." The venue is part of Pike & Rose, a residential and commercial project near the White Flint Metro station. AMP now has its own Web site, but won't be available for rental until the fall, and won't host concerts until winter.

Strathmore will be managing the space and booking concerts, with  "intimate jazz, rock, folk and contemporary performances, as well as a variety of well established, trend-setting touring acts." Trendy!

Another exciting part of the project: Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Birch & Barley, ChurchKey, Bluejacket, Iron Gate, etc.) will handle the new venue's food, drink and catering. NRG plans to open a restaurant and beer garden -- its first foray into Maryland -- within the Pike & Rose development.

Beer and trend-setting music. We're intrigued.
