G Street Food is now open near McPherson Square, with dinner

A downtown lunch mainstay is branching out into a third location -- and into dinner. G Street Food, already known for its globe-spanning menu and sandwiches, opens its doors today at 1030 15th Street NW, and instead of closing at 4 p.m. like the eatery's other locations, it will stay open until 10 p.m. for dinner service.

G Street Food's dinner menu will focus on international foods that aren't quite as quick. Linger over shareable dishes like rabbit prepared two ways in a stew with dumplings ($35, and more than enough for two), or dungeness Singapore chili crab ($38). With two days' notice, you can even order a roast suckling pig served with collard greens, pearl onions, and peas ($40 per person, for a minimum of four guests). For vegetarians, there are a dozen options, and nearly twice as many choices for those who are gluten-free.

Smaller bites include plates of smoked meats and international street foods, such as Bolivian saltenas ($7) and beef carpaccio served with apples and garlic cream ($5). There's also a wide selection of cocktails, beers, and wines.

The McPherson Square G Street Food will offer an equally international approach to brunch: Entrees include bangers and mash, schnitzel with eggs and risotto pancakes.
