8 things to do in the D.C. area on the weekend of June 6-8

The weekend’s best in nightlife, music and art. For even more, check out Nightlife Agenda.

Friday-Saturday: Spend a day in the sun,  sipping beer and supping on, well, bacon, at the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival at National Harbor.  The pickings are standard -- a little PBR, a little Fat Tire, Dogfish Head and Heavy Seas  -- but look out for bourbon offerings in the dozens.  Tickets, which range from $25 to $99, are available here.

Friday: Never Sleep Alone,” a popular cabaret in residence at Joe’s Pub at New York’s famed Public Theater, is making its D.C. debut Friday.  The show, a faux dating seminar helmed by one-woman Tinder Dr. Alex Schiller, is so forward about its intentions that it first asks theatergoers to choose seats based on relationship status, and then abandon their inhibitions for an hour-long session of theatrical foreplay. Choose a “singles” ticket, and you’re signing on for a firsthand lesson in the seductive arts from Dr. Alex. Decide you’re demure, and you’re directed to the back with all the other “voyeurs,” who’d rather watch than join in. The show lands at Gypsy Sally’s in Georgetown; the pre-show begins at 8:30 p.m. Get tickets hereRead more: ‘Never Sleep Alone’: A naughty lesson in sealing the deal lands at Gypsy Sally’s

Friday: It officially feels like summer. No bigger sign than outdoor movie screenings, which are quietly rolling out.  One of the granddaddies is the Rosslyn Film Festival, which fills a strange pocket of park in the middle of rush-hour traffic with movie-goers almost every Friday in the summer. Pack a picnic and a comfy blanket, grab your best girlfriends and head to the 'burbs for this week's installment, a screening of "The Devil Wears Prada." The free screening kicks off at 8 p.m.

Saturday: There are enough Capital Pride-related events to fill your weekend and then some, but the highlight for many is the annual Capital Pride Parade, now in its 39th year. The blowout that shuts down Dupont Circle with marchers, dancers, floats and fun-seekers is getting a bit of a new route this year, crossing through Logan Circle to 14th Street, so be sure to check out the map before staking out your viewing spot.  But the free event will step off from its traditional kick-off point: 22nd and P streets NW, at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday: The Freer and Sackler galleries unbutton a bit in the summertime, keeping the lights on late for the soiree known as Asia After Dark. The first one of the season arrives this weekend with a theme tied to "Beyond Bollywood," an exhibition that opened this winter at the National Museum of Natural History. Like the exhibition, the party promises to be a whirl of color and sights: Tour the galleries’ South Asian sculpture collections, try your hand at making crowns inspired by Hindu deities, or sip cocktails and dance to the rhythmic sounds of bhangra from New York’s DJ Rekha. Tickets to the event, set for Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight, are going fast, so get them soon sold out. Friday-June 29: Weeks before the Capital Fringe Festival arrives, Source Festival serves as a kind of appetizer, whetting our appetites for experimental theater, strange, new and absurd. Source offers a series of micro-plays that are perfect for those with short attention spans. There are a trio of new full-length plays you'll be the first to witness. But the most fun might come from the  "artistic blind dates," which pair up creatives working in different disciplines -- say, music and theater -- and have them create new works together just for the festival. All events take place at Source on 14th Street NW, and at $10 a ticket for some shows, it's easily a date that's even cheaper than going to the movies. Get tickets and a full schedule here.

Saturday: Summertime is no time to be cooped up at the mall, or worse, clicking away on Shopbop. Especially not when you can land your steals on wheels. Saturday's inaugural Fashion Yards event will roll in a handful of mobile boutiques -- that's food-truck like trucks dispensing clothes and accessories, instead of tacos -- and offer cocktails  and spa treatments at Yards Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Among the trucks: Arden Reed,  Nollypop Boutique, Pichardo Boutique, Saivita – the Flower Truck, Street Boutique, Tin Lizzy and more. On hand to feed you: Takorean, Ice Cream Jubilee, and Honest Tea; with cocktails by Osteria Morini.

Sunday: Get a sampling of the fare in Maryland at the Taste of Wheaton, which touches down in downtown Wheaton this weekend with food vendors including  the Limerick Pub, Hollywood East Cafe, Los Cobanos, Marchone's Italian Deli, Green Plate Catering, Thai Taste by Kob and many more, with tastes ranging from $1 to $5 per “taste." The event is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
