Like the weather, the American University Museum completely changes every few months, turning over all 30,000 square feet of exhibition space to an entirely new assortment of art.
Of its three new summer shows, two are exceptional. “The Constant Artist” takes a look back at the careers of nine longtime Washington painters, with examples of their early and late art, supplemented by a series of before-and-after portraits by photographer Paul Feinberg. Spotlighting the art collection of Mexican collectors Isabel and Agustin Coppel, “Mexico: Expected/Unexpected” is a world-class sampler of contemporary art, with an especially strong showing by its sculptors
