But then, not every fast food place is Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits. The beloved Southern franchise made its first foray into Washington yesterday in the Union Station food court, and Washingtonians are apparently so excited about it, they couldn’t stop tweeting the news.

I’ve always gone out of my way for those seasoned fries, light and fluffy biscuits and sweet tea, so I couldn’t miss the opening, either.

Between 2 and 6 p.m. yesterday, the chain was giving away a free meal and drink. When I arrived around 5:30

At one point, as I got closer to the register, a man near me asked what was going on.

“It just opened today,” said the guy behind me.

“They’re giving away free meals,” I explained.

”And,” said another 20-something guy, with a bit of a drawl, “it’s Bojangles’.”

Quite right. Most of us probably would have paid.
