For seven years running, Ventnor is the place to be if you want to mix the State of the Union address with good, old-fashioned jello shots. When you get there, pick a word you expect President Obama to say during the speech (Freedom? Jobs? America? Newt Gingrich?) and you’ll get a $1 jello shot when he does.
Wednesday
As a young boy from Brooklyn in the 1970s, Bill German became an avid Rolling Stones groupie, eventually creating what became the band’s official newsletter and being a fly on the wall for some of their most infamous concerts, recording sessions and bitter fights. He reads from his new book, “Under Their Thumb: How a Nice Boy from Brooklyn Got Mixed Up with the Rolling Stones (and Lived to Tell About It),” at the Arlington Central Library.
Thursday
Expect to see sweeping leg kicks, pelvic thrusts, outlandish costumes and a wide (and we mean wide) range of vocal ability at this year’s annual H Street Karaoke Championship, held at the Rock and Roll Hotel.

Over the course of his long career, Robert Hoffman has made more than 350 harmonica cases with an array of artists. The display of some of these cases at Artisphere closes on Saturday.
