Where federal workers live

More than 800,000 federal workers may face furloughs during the government shutdown. That’s almost half the 1,850,311 employees who draw federal paychecks, according to the Office of Personnel Management. Here’s where those workers live:

Four states — California, Texas, Maryland and Virginia — and the District of Columbia have more than 100,000 federal workers. Delaware has the fewest, at just 3,031, according to OPM’s figures.
