How the Texas papers remember JFK

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated 50 years ago Friday, sparking days of national mourning. He was in a convertible waving to a crowd in Dallas, when Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed him.

The 21 Texas newspaper front-pages listed on the Newseum’s Web site Friday marked the anniversary with surprising diversity. Most played it big, some did not. Some focused on local residents with connections to him or the event, while others focused on the man. Even the photos used — or, in some cases, illustrations — varied considerably.
