Over at the Atlantic, Megan Garber published a chart this week from earlier in the year depicting which states swear the most and least and which are most and least courteous. The map, reproduced at the bottom of this post, was created by the Marchex Institute, the data arm of a mobile advertising technology company. It’s based off of an analysis of more than 600,000 phone calls from consumers to businesses.
It’s not exactly academic, but the map represents a test of perceptions of which states produce the most foul-mouthed residents. So we created the quiz below.
