Rabbi David Wolpe muses this week on matters great and small--from great philosophers of old to common frustrations of life in 2013. Here is this week’s contribution:
Nietzsche lived in madness
Kiekegaard with dread
Damocles with a sharpened sword
Suspended ‘bove his head.
Goethe had his Werther
Voltaire his infamy
And what of Hume, who never saw
The self he sought to see?
Great spirits have great troubles
As they sail life’s uncharted seas
But while I grope to grasp their scope
I’ve lost my blasted keys.
