‘God Particle’: We’ve just seen the light

Earlier this month, scientists announced the discovery of an elusive subatomic particle, Higgs boson, that was thought to better explain the origins of the matter, the universe. Rabbi David Wolpe of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles penned the following poem about the discovery.

Writes Wolpe:

No doubt you have all read about
The stunning confirmation
That the collider replaced Mount Sinai
As the site for revelation.

God is out, Higgs Boson in,
Invisible, unseen
Particulate angels on a pinhead
From absences, we glean.

But who can help but wonder if
At the dawn of dark and bright
A voice pronounced “Let Boson be”
And we’ve just seen the light.

Rabbi of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, David Wolpe is the author of seven books including “Making Loss Matter: Creating Meaning in Difficult Times” and his latest, “Why Faith Matters.” Follow him on Facebook.
