I made the prediction months ago that John Beck would be the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins at some point during the 2011 season.
It appears that now my prediction is growing legs, with multiple reports surfacing surrounding the former BYU QB.
After the draft came and went without the Redskins adding a quarterback, it made the opportunity for Beck more believable.
There’s also the length of this work stoppage. With the NFL having a stay put in place by the courts, it would make no sense to try and bring in a free agent with limited time to learn the system to lead the team.
Beck is the only quarterback other than Donovan McNabb with a contract, he has a playbook and he talks with a confidence that would lead one to believe that coaches have given him the nod behind closed doors.
I believe Rex Grossman will come in as the starter, but his performance will dictate how long it takes before we see Beck make his debut as the man under center.
