Craig Symonds to speak at Lincoln’s Cottage

Craig Symonds, author of many books on U.S. naval history, including “The Civil War at Sea,” is scheduled to speak at President Lincoln’s Cottage on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington on Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m.

This is a most worthwhile event because Symonds, professor emeritus of the U.S. Naval Academy history department, is a delightful speaker who could probably make any subject interesting, and because it will be held at the Lincoln Cottage, a lesser-known Washington Civil War site.

This is a great opportunity to be introduced to the naval history of the Civil War or to expand your knowledge on the subject.

There is a reception at 6 p.m. ($10) and the lecture is at 6:30 p.m. ($10).
