A bright idea; an etiquette breach; and so long, Dennis (read-this roundup)

Would you buy a fifty-buck light bulb? (David Paul Morris - Bloomberg)
How’s this for a bright idea: a $10,000 government award for affordability went to ... a $50 light bulb. “This is a Cadillac product,” a Home Depot buyer says, according to our colleague Peter Whorisky.

And allow us to clutch our pearls for a moment at an etiquette breach that would have Miss Manners reaching for the salts. Our colleague Stephen Mufson reports that Jeffrey Sachs is openly campaigning (gasp!) for World Bank president.

Which is, apparently, just not done in polite circles.

We’re saddened to learn that it looks like Dennis Kucinich won’t be coming back to Washington.

And here’s the quote of the week: “I’m learning to say ‘y’all’ and ‘I like grits.’ ” — former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, channelling his inner southerner, according to our colleague Krissah Thompson.
