Beirne lands a West Wing office

(Susan Walsh - AP)
The last office in the West Wing first floor goes to. . . Katherine N. ”Katie” Beirne, the new White House deputy director of communications.

It’s not a big office, tucked in between press secretary Jay Carney’s most excellent office and communications director Jennifer Palmieri’s office. But it does have a large window facing north.

Beirne has been most recently staff director of the Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Center (DPCC), the Senate Dems policy and messaging machine, and before that legislative director for Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y), who also oversees the DPCC.

Before her Senate jobs, Beirne worked for a couple-plus years in New York as an investment banker at the now-demised Lehman Brothers.

The move means her husband, Brian Fallon, the DPCC communications director, won’t be able to carpool to work with her.
