Bo Obama earns his keep, a new LBJ book weighs in, and much ado about bin Laden (read-this roundup)

Here’s what the Loop is reading this morning:

Bo Obama is earning his keep on the trail. (Pablo Martinez Monsivais - AP)
Man’s best fundraiser — Far from getting a free ride, Bo Obama is helping bring in campaign cash. Internet ads featuring the First Dog “urge voters to ‘Bark for Barack’ by donating to the campaign. Official “Pet Lovers for Obama” pages on Facebook, Pinterest and other social media sites feature pictures of the president and his dog and invite supporters to share their own pet photos,” our colleague Dan Eggen reports.

It’s no “Hunger Games” — Clear some space on your bookshelf, nerds--better make that a lot of space. Historian Robert Caro’s latest installment (the fourth in an expected five-part collection) of the Lyndon Baines Johnson biography is out this week. “The Passage of Power” weighs in at more than 700 pages, our colleague Maura Judkis reports.

Bin there, done that — All the ado about the death of Osama bin Laden--would Jimmy Carter have done it? Is President Obama politicizing it?--might not matter come November, says our colleague Felicia Sonmez. It’s still all about the economy, stupid, she says.
