Department of Justice official Tony West on the rise

We’re hearing that Tony West, the Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Division, is in line to fill the shoes of Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli, the department’s third highest-ranking official. Perrelli announced a few weeks ago that he would leave his post in March.

It’s not a done deal, but we’ve heard the phrase “almost certain.”

No word yet on who would replace West.

And in other DOJ revolving-door news, Michael DuBose, formerly Chief of the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, has joined consulting firm Kroll. DuBose is managing director and cyber investigations practice leader for the company, which specializes in risk-management.
