Flying the really, really friendly skies?

Seemed like a good idea when the Air Transportation Association, the trade group of the major airlines, unveiled its new name, Airlines for America, earlier this week. The acronym, as we reported, is A4A, which keeps it from being confused with the Association of Flight Attendants union (AFA).

So we typed A4A into Google and . . . oh dear. . . we got:

“Adam4Adam,” an online gay dating Web site advertising “FREE, Gay dating and hookup, chat, cam.”

Yes, indeed. The site offers “Hot sexy studs seeking to date hot guys in NYC, New York, Miami Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego . ..”

A4A (the airline group), which was listed next on the search, told us it had partnered with Pentagram, a highly regarded international design firm to help rebrand the 75-year-old trade group.

It appears several other organizations, such as Advocates for Animals, also use the A4A acronym.

Well, the new airline group’s slogan is “We Connect the World.” Sure do. And they fly the friendly skies.
