After stepping down in October as deputy defense secretary,
William Lynn will be helming a U.S. subsidiary of Italian defense firm Finmeccanica, we hear.
The company is expected to announce tomorrow that Lynn, who served under defense secretaries Robert Gates and Leon Panetta, is the new chairman and CEO of DRS Technologies, a U.S.-based defense electronics contractor. This isn’t Lynn’s first stint in the private sector: Before President Obama named him to the Pentagon post, he was a top executive at Raytheon. Before that, Lynn was defense counsel to the late senator Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and undersecretary of defense in the Clinton administration.
He’ll replace DRS chief Mark Newman, who is retiring.
