Here’s what the Loop is reading Thursday morning:

Sheer lunacy — Unclear exactly why Rep. Louie Gohmert was the lone vote against removing the outdated word “lunatic” from federal laws. Something about it having a lot of application around Congress?

Please, Santa — Federal workers are hoping they’re on the nice list, asking Santa (and, more importantly, Uncle Sam) for the day off work on Christmas Eve.

From skates to State — Ice champion Michelle Kwan has a new gig at the State Department. Her title is senior adviser for public diplomacy and public affairs.
