Job council’s end means Pritzker’s free; rehashing Hagel; and Hillary’s legacy (read-this roundup)

Here’s what the Loop is reading Friday:

Former Sen. Chuck Hagel, President Obama's choice for defense secretary, testifies. (J. Scott Applewhite - AP)
Idle hands — The White House jobs council is expiring. Penny Pritzker — the Obama bundler who’s a top candidate for Secretary of Commerce — was on it. Which means that now, she’s got even more time on her hands. We’re just sayin’...

Hagel redux — Rehashing Thursday’s hearing for former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) to be secretary of defense. The highlight reel’s here, and the reviews have his performance as “just plain bad.”

Living history — It’s Hillary Clinton’s last day as secretary of state. Our colleague Anne Gearan examines her legacy and finds “no major diplomatic achievements” equalling those of her great predecessors. Ouch.

He hearted NYC — A nice obituary (and photo gallery) for former New York mayor Ed Koch.
