Kosher Senate fare no treif-ling matter

Sen. Joe Lieberman , rejoice! The Senate cafeterias will soon offer kosher fare.

The Senate eateries’ most famous offerings (think ham-laden bean soup and a bacon-heavy BLT) aren’t exactly kosher-friendly, so the addition of the new options is a big development for members of Congress and Hill aides too busy doing the people’s business to schlep to the nearest parve-purveying deli.

We hear that Restaurant Associates, the contractor that run the chamber’s food service, will be placing orders with Wrap2Go, one of the most popular kosher caterers in the Washington area.

No word yet on what the menu selections will be or exactly when the new eats will make their debut. But Wrap2Go’s online menus promise a variety of tasty-sounding options that even the most orthodox staffer would like.

Finally, an alternative to the usual treif.
