Here’s what the Loop is reading this morning:
Going up? — Former President George W. Bush finally endorsed Mitt Romney (the suspense was killing us) from the inside of an elevator. Our colleague Karen Tumulty reports that the former president has been low-key on the campaign trail—particularly when compared with another ex-prez (hint: rhymes with Shlinton).
No one’s on third — Two years and $35 million later, Americans Elect can’t field a decent third-party candidate, it seems. Our colleagues Krissah Thompson and Aaron Blake have the story of how the centrist group hasn’t found a third-party candidate with enough support to back in the presidential race.
Rare sightings — It’s like a unicorn. Or a leprechaun riding a unicorn. Yesterday, Congress passed a piece of bipartisan legislation (filibuster not required) and the thing got sent to the president’s desk, reports our colleague Rosalind Helderman. How... functional!
And in other unicorn sightings, here’s some bipartisan funniness: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) and Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) teamed up to produce this hilarious video shown at a state press dinner.
