Obama ambassador quotes LL Cool J

Explaining President Obama’s turn to Asian affairs — a move dubbed by foreign policy watchers as the “Asia pivot” — Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar  invoked the words of a hip-hop legend.

“I think the most apt description would be ‘don’t call it a comeback, we’ve been here for years,’ ” Wagar said in an appearance on CNBC, explaining the shift.

That quote, of course, is the opening lyric to LL Cool J’s classic anthem “Mama Said Knock You Out.”

And it’s not the first time the words have been associated with Obama: Cool J himself tweeted the quote on the eve of the president’s reelection.
