It’s time for the P.M. pick-u-up! This afternoon, it’s all about throwing copyright out the window in order to innovate. Okay, seriously, don’t break any laws, but a new video from Kirby Ferguson makes the case for copying the greats as a path to innovation.

“Nobody starts out original,” narrates Kirby, “we need copying to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding. And after that, things can get interesting.”
The video is the third in a four-part series called “Everything is a Remix,” by Ferguson, a New York-based filmmaker. The first episode focuses on music and the second on movies.
