2014 Subaru Forester Earns Top Safety Pick

(Cars.com)

The redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It earned the top score of Good in moderate overlap front, side, roof-strength and rear tests.

The Top Safety Pick award is the second-highest safety designation from IIHS, with the new  Top Safety Pick+ being the top award. To receive Top Safety Pick+ status, a car must undergo IIHS’ new crash test, the small overlap front, which simulates the car’s front corner hitting a pole or tree. The 2014 Forester hasn’t undergone this crash test yet, but IIHS expects to release crash-test results for this new category this spring.

The 2013 Forester also is a Top Safety Pick.
