Top 20 Most Commonly Used Street Names

(Cars.com)

What may be the most important throughway in Peoria could be just a dead-end cul-de-sac in Schenectady. Despite the differences, the one thing American streets have in common is they share many of the same names, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Jalopnik.com complied a top 20 list of the most popular street names.

Topping the list is Second street with nearly 11,000 entries, followed — fittingly — by Third street, with First coming in third place, ironically. Besides easy-to-remember numerical street names, generic tree names — such as Pine and Oak — also top the list. The only proper noun ranking in the top 20 is the name of our first president, Washington.
