Surprise guests coming to education conference

Surprise guests -- households names, for sure! -- are coming to tomorrow’s Early Learning conference at the Washington Post. Sen. Barbarba Mikulski and Mark Shriver, Senior Vice President of Save the Children, and a host of other education experts, will talk about the value of investing in teaching our toddlers. What’s new in the thinking of the best way to launch a three-year-old into a life of learning? How has the media revolution helped -- or hurt -- kids who now grow up more used to swiping iPads than turning the pages of a book? At a time when there is much focus on the shortcomings of our nation’s education system, many believe the wisest investment is in the youngest; this forum will amplify that discussion. Watch on washingtonpostlive.com starting at 10:30 AM on Oct. 5.
