The coolest job in Washington?

She is tiny and super smart and may be the woman in Washington with the coolest job. Regina Dugan runs DARPA, the Defense agency that invented the internet and GPS. She is the first woman to run the agency founded by the federal government in response to the launch of Sputnik. Her agency exists to invent. One of their latest innovations: the hummingbird drone. This handy tool for covert surveillance moves in the air with the agility and size of hummingbird. She is going to be talking to me about how she rounds up great thinkers and challenges them to make things that don’t exist but sure would be handy. Her doctorate in mechanical engineering no doubt helps as she leads an elite army of techno geeks. Dugan will be talking Feb. 14 at a Washington Post Live event about Ideas and Innovation.
