Problems in Loudoun
A handful of precincts in Loudoun County reported problems with the laptop computers used to check in voters, according to Loudoun County registrar Judy Brown.
Brown said the problem was not widespread across the county and did not impact the votes themselves.
“We have three different brands of laptops in use, and with one model some election officers are having issues getting them networked together,” Brown said.
Instead of having one running tally of the number of voters, she said, the laptops are being used independently until technicians can address the issue.
“But this should not affect anything at all,” Brown said. “It’s not like we are losing any votes or information.”
The hiccup caused a minor delay Tuesday morning at some precincts, including Forest Grove Elementary in Sterling. But precinct chief Trudy Goodwin said the operation soon was proceeding smoothly, and by 6:45 a.m., the short line of voters in the school gym had entirely dispersed.
