Season’s first snow falls in western Maryland

Light snow hit parts of western Maryland’s Garrett County Wednesday morning.

With fog and snow falling, temperatures in the area were reported at 32 degrees during the morning commute, according to the National Weather Service.

The snow comes as a cold front is moving across the eastern United States. It is expected to bring the coolest weather of the fall season so far to the Washington metropolitan area. Overnight lows in the D.C. region are expected to be in the upper 20s to upper 30s this week.

Forecasters said the weather will be “unseasonably cool” for the eastern half of the United States.Normally, temperatures in the D.C. region for this time of year range from the upper 60s to lower 50s, according to weather experts.

Some rain is expected.
