Sewage overflow on Capital Crescent Trail

Authorities said Friday that they are dealing with a new sewer overflow on the Capital Crescent Trail.

The National Park Service said a combined sewage and rain water spill is forcing them to close sections of the trail near Washington Canoe Club. Crews are on the scene working to fix the problem.

There was another sewage spill recently along the Capital Crescent Trail.

The trail was closed for a week from just below Fletcher’s Cove to Water Street in Georgetown so crews could clean up, decontaminate and repair parts of the trail near the C&O Canal.
