More than 100 to travel to India with O’Malley

A delegation of more than 100 business leaders, educators and elected officials will accompany Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and his wife to India this month on the first trip to the country by a sitting Maryland governor, O’Malley’s office said Tuesday.

The governor’s office said the delegation will make stops in Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. Prior to that, O’Malley plans a brief stop in Doha, Qatar, to discuss foreign direct investment opportunities in Maryland.

The tab for most members of the delegation will be picked up by their company or institution.

“With this historic trade mission, we are strengthening our ties with India, committing to exploring more two-way trade and investment, and positioning Maryland as the gateway to doing business in America,” O’Malley said in a statement.

His office also released itineraries for both the governor and First Lady Catherine Curran O’Malley.
