New health officer, planning board member in Prince George’s

Pamela Creekmur, a registered nurse and former administrator for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, has been confirmed as the new health officer for Prince George’s County.

Creekmur, 52, of Upper Marlboro, had been acting health chief since last summer. Her permanent appointment to the $155,000 a year post was approved unanimously Tuesday by the Prince George’s County Council. She was tapped as acting health chief after County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) decided not to reappoint Donald Shell, a physician who had served during the administration of County Executive Jack B. Johnson (D)

The council also on Tuesday unanimously approved the nomination of Manuel R. Geraldo, 61, of Fort Washington, to the county’s planning board. An attorney, Geraldo served on Baker’s transition team.

The part-time post at the planning commission pays $25,000. The appointment of Geraldo completes Baker’s effort to remake the five-member panel with his own appointees.

The Prince George’s planning board is part of the bi-county Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, which oversees development and parks in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
